Engineer Village Mining Home | by Boulder, Colorado Architects – Fanas Architecture
Responding to the mining vernacular of the Durango/Telluride area, this 5,000 sq. ft. spec home incorporates key elements such as vertical board and batten siding, steel detailing, exposed timber trusses and large stone fireplaces. Interior detailing combines current state of the art fixtures and appliances with area appropriate materials such as soap stone counter top for the kitchen island and copper tile detailing in the bathrooms. The extreme snow depth in the area required additional design and detailing. Our team of architects went above and beyond the stringent local requirements by addressing the exposed exterior siding and roof structure with added insulation in ceilings and walls to increase the energy efficiency of the home. With a major ski resort less than ½ mile from the front door of this property, this residence combines rustic elegance with a convenient get-away for the owners and guests of the home.
