Revitalizing Downtown Longmont

logo-updateWith the struggles of the U.S. economy after the 2008 financial crisis it’s been a wonder that so many small businesses have been able to stay open. However, it hasn’t been without sacrifice. Many businesses have foregone updates and improvements to their storefronts instead of layoffs and cutbacks elsewhere in the company. Now that the economy is on the rebound, many cities are looking for ways to take advantage and improve tourism to boost their own local economy. Longmont, Colorado is one of those cities

Longmont has offered to take on some of the financial burden for these businesses looking to make improvements with a few different grant options. Here’s a brief overview of what’s available:

Each grant has different criteria and processes so make sure to look through them carefully to see which is right for your business.

Fänas Architecture is working with a local Longmont client on just such a project.  The project includes renovating a run-down retail space on Main Street into a brewpub and bistro. Transforming this space will include creating a new storefront, an outdoor sidewalk seating area, a state of the art kitchen, and adding a rooftop dining option. While a lot of the changes will focus on updates and new areas, we’re also going to be preserving the history by repairing and cleaning the existing brick found on the exterior and interior of the building. Taking this space from eyesore to thriving downtown business will take some time, but with a projected open date at the end of 2014, it won’t be long before it’s a part of the Downtown Longmont revitalization.

Taking on a remodel of your business can be just as stressful as taking on a home remodel. Fänas is here to help assist you with the planning and the details of the grant. If you have any questions, Fänas Architecture can be reached by calling 303.444.5380 or emailing us at info@fanasarchitecture.com. We have offices in Boulder, Colorado and Pagosa Springs, Colorado and we’re happy to help!
